I have had the privilege of attending a very interesting webinar on “MINDFULNESS: A Powerful Tool to Cope with Stress Amidst COVID-19 Crisis” by Shveta Shourie. At a time when life on the planet is threatened by the menacing pandemic and we are prone to all kinds of phobias, each worse and frightening than the previous one, and we don’t know whom to turn to for solace and guidance, a webinar by  Shveta was heartening and encouraging to renew our hopes of survival and build a mindset to cope with this draconian dilemma. The recipes she has given for mindfulness meditation, viz., forming the mindset and cultivating mindfulness through acceptance, impermanence, self-compassion and empathy and several breathing techniques such as laughter yoga and the 4-7-8 technique to bring us out of the autopilot mode are truly exemplary. At present when the world is passing through a horrible crisis precipitated by the Coronavirus and hopes for survival of humankind appear to be bleak, her lecture comes as a silver lining in the cloud. We’re really like a person passing through a dark tunnel but thankfully, her lecture showed us that there is, indeed, light at the end of the tunnel.
